Yes. My father lashed out frequently. One day he was having a heated argument with my mom and I started to cry in my bedroom. He came in, red-faced, and started screaming at me to stop crying.
The way my father treated me and still treats me today has had a serious impact on my mental health, my self-esteem, and the way I see myself.
Since I was little all I did was try my best to please him. There were plenty of situations in which he made me feel like a failure for not reaching his expectations.
