Unfortunately, this is true in most parts of the world. In Bolivia, where I was born, former president Evo Morales was accused of sexually abusing minors. Has he been held accountable? No. His supporters, men and women alike, deny the allegations.
In Spain, where I currently live, things aren't any better. The extreme right party VOX has been campaigning to eliminate a "gender violence" law that protects women.
Violence against women is normalized. Whether it's verbal or physical, we still have a long road ahead to feel safe and seen.
