Hi Sarah,

Insightful piece. I truly enjoyed it.

I've said a few curse words in front of my one-year-old, like when I burned my fingers with a hot plate.

One thing is to let a harmless "shit!" out, and another is to insult the child or, as you wrote, "flip out in anger ."

Sometimes I think people focus on the wrong thing. The person who called the cops on that woman clearly had no idea how traumatizing these experiences are for children.

A good parent is not one that never makes mistakes. We're human, and we must let our kids know that we are not perfect. We don't have all the answers. When we make a mistake, we should own up to that mistake and apologize to our children.
