I rewatched SATC in 2018 and found myself annoyed at Carrie on most episodes. I saw a self-absorbed character that wasn't always the best of friends or the most honest or loyal partner.

Your article is focused on her relationship with Mr. Big, which I agree, is an unhealthy relationship. However, Carrie knew Big was married to Natasha and did not care. We can't blame everything on Mr. Big. She's an adult who made conscious decisions too.

I do understand that it's hard to break from toxic relationships, and at times, a person might not even realize they are in one.

I don't want to take credit away from the show, as I think that when it first came out, there wasn't a show focused on women's sexuality and relationships. Maybe I'm wrong. At least, outside the United States, I don't think there was a show in which a character like Samantha, for example, spoke so openly about wanting sex and her right to an orgasm. It's not fair to judge the show by today's standards.

I'm not going to watch the reboot because, quite frankly, can't Hollywood or the entertainment industry come up with new ideas? Aren't there enough stories out there waiting to be told?

For instance, your experience about being single again after 30 years of marriage, that's a story I'd like to watch. And as you say, we are not defined by the person that sleep next to us. Being single is not the end of the world, and it's not a tragedy.

Our society has an issue with women being single, and that has to change. There are plenty of people in unhappy relationships, but they're too scared to be single.

For the record, I enjoyed reading your point of view and hope that you continue to enjoy pursuing your passions and dreams.
