At this very moment

I take a breath and…

At this very moment, as I take a breath, someone takes their first and someone takes their last.

At this very moment, someone runs to get home, and someone runs away from home.

At this very moment, someone makes love, and someone's love story ends.

At this very moment, laughter fills one room while tears fill another.

At this very moment, a woman screams for help, but no one hears her.

At this very moment, a man in a crowd cries in silence, and no one notices.

At this very moment, someone inflicts pain, while another suffers.

At this very moment, someone gets drunk, and someone tries to stay sober.

At this very moment, someone walks the desert alone, someone crosses the sea alone, and someone swims through a river alone.

At this very moment, a family sits down for dinner while another flees their country.

At this very moment, a mother gives birth while another buries her child.

At this very moment, a young girl bleeds for the first time, and it changes everything.

At this very moment, an innocent man is shot, and the murderer walks free.

At this very moment, a woman is raped, and the world turns away.

At this very moment, someone is doing the very same thing you’re doing, in a very different place.

At this very moment, a new life starts, and another one ends. And when we take our last breath, someone else will take their first.
